The specific problem I have is that commands that write to the screen, e.g. LIST (with or without PAGE), DISPLAY, TRACE, DUMP, frequently (not always) zap the screen, as if they had triggered a RUN/STOP and RESTORE. This happens after printing on screen anywhere from part of a line to dozens of lines. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. And sometimes these commands hang the computer instead, either before or after clearing the screen. I have an early model 64, circa 12/82. Is SB incompatiable with its ROM? Is there something I can POKE to override the incompatibility (if that's what it is)? Or do I have a bad copy of SB that should be returned? By the way, it took me a long time to get SB, with a series of promises, back orders, etc. from mail order houses. One told me, after a long back order, that CBM had raised the price to $45 and they weren't filling any orders until the purchaser reordered at some higher price than previously advertised. At that point (some weeks ago) Protecto was advertising it at about $25, and they claimed to have it in stock, so I ordered from them. At about the time I expected delivery, I got an out-of-stock back order notice. However, without further action on my part, Protecto delivered about a week or 10 days later, and at the advertised price. Replies by mail please -- if there is information of general interest, I will summaraize to the net. Thanks. David A.
