My HP rep brought by a unit with a hand-build serial interface,
(engineering sample or some such), which I connected to
my Teletype 5620 DMD, and which I successfully dumped Epson
format bitmap graphics. 

I said give it to me now, in quantities.

He said that it would be several months before 
they where in production.
