Message-ID: <499@ut-ngp.UUCP> Date: Thu, 1-Sep-83 02:15:37 EDT Article-I.D.: ut-ngp.499 Posted: Thu Sep 1 02:15:37 1983 Date-Received: Sat, 27-Aug-83 18:17:55 EDT Lines: 20 Question: is it technically / legally possible for me to have some phone-attached gadget which will display the number of the phone calling me? If I am being called, shouldn't I be able to identify who is calling me before I answer the phone? I certainly feel that I have the right to know who is calling me before I ever answer the phone. I guess what I would like to see is a gadget, which displays the number from which the call originates, plus some character display with a message from the caller, identifying himself and the purpose of his call. There are many other features which I would like to see in phones, but I'd be happy with some small improvements already. PS: It is not obvious where to post this, so I'll post it in several groups. please don't flame back.
