Berkeley Lines: 11 There were a number of holes in the plot of Romancing the Stone, but the one I'm concerned with here concerns the scene where Michael Douglas is holding the baddies at bay while Kathleen Turner tries to cross the gorge. Douglas remarks that she's seeing "a real live Jesse" (or words to that effect) Jesse being the hero in Turner's romantic novels. However this scene takes place at a point where the characters hardly know each other. From what happens later it seems that Douglas has never heard of Turner nor has he read any of her books. Did anyone else notice this or have I missed something? Wayne Citrin (uccbvax!citrin)
