Linda Hunt's performance is among the best I've seen in such a role. I liked the movie, too; it was certainly one of last year's best. I thought it should have been nominated, since I liked it better than the ones that were, at least those that I saw. Tangetially, I thought 'Terms of Endearment' was pointedly sexist in an obverted sort of way, and for that reason I didn't like it. All of the men in the movie were portrayed in negative ways, from Winger's no-good hubby to her wimpy little sons. Nicholson's character was the only one I liked, and even he wound up eating a little quiche in the end. So OK, flame on if you like -- it was a very good film from a critical viewpoint, but I didn't like what it had to say about men. -- Bob Fishell ihnp4!ihu1g!fish
