Most of my favorite guitarists have been already mentioned: Hendrix, Clapton,
Page, Alvin Lee, Van Halen, Santana, etc. I also want to second the nomination
of Brian May, whom I consider to be one of the most underrated guitarists in
popular music. And of course there's McLaughlin/DiMeola/De Lucia.

A couple of additions that no one's seemed to mention: There's Stevie Ray
Vaughan, who has to be seen to be believed; Eric Lilliquist, from a now-defunct
band called Orphan (who has played back-up for Jonathan Edwards and Tom Rush);
Guy Van Duser (a *phenomenal* old-jazz/blues/stride guitarist who can be heard
on his Rounder Records albums), and how can anyone forget Mike Bloomfield or
Jeff Beck!!
