A couple of years ago Rounder Records released some "music" that was recorded in the 60's by an all-girl (3 sisters) band called the Shaggs. It is almost beyond belief. The instruments are not in time with each other, there is no discernable tonality or structure to any of their songs. I really enjoy this album. It is definitely not the sort of thing I would care to hear all of the time, but it is the least derivative record I've ever heard. The album, entitled "The Philosophy of the World", will not be on display at the major chain record stores; nor will you find it used (people who buy this record know what they are getting), but search and you shall find. It's worth the effort! P. King (...hao!denelcor!pking)
