Yes, I was going to post a similar reply about the Shaggs.
Their recording was financed by the father of one of the "band" members.
("Daddy, I wanna be in a rock band!!!!!!!")
Supposedly the example given in the dictionary definition of "atrocious".

Although, my friend says, without the Shaggs we'd never have had the
Slits and the Raincoats.  (Was it worth it??)
