Mark Stein here at Fortune hacked in a quick change to notes to allow
saves ("s") to a pipe if the first character of the save-file name was "|".
I think you'll find it straightforward to do.

Now I just "save" those jokes to the file "|r13" (a shell script).
And to print a note, save it to "|lpr".
