Student loans are still available to anyone if they are independent of their parents, if their family makes <$30,000, or if they can demonstrate need. Of course, these are loans, not outright handouts, but that's what you want, right? (By the way, I'm a graduate student living fairly well on Mike Kelly's "$8000 less 20%."
