I don't even think that the Black Muslims use that name
to identify themselves anymore.  I think they use their
other name "Nation of Islam".

Since Mr. Muhammad (sp ?) died several years ago, I think
the N of I has been moving toward a more orthodox Islamic
position (although I don't know enough about N of I or Islam
itself to make that judgement).

I have noticed that public statments of the N of I have been
much more conciliatory to the white community and I do believe
they either dropped or de-emphasized the bizarre racial doctrines.

I also understand that people of other races (even whites) are
now accepted in the N of I. (anybody know fer sure ?)

It is kind of ironic that this acceptance of whites was reputedly
one the central issues in Malcom X's assassination (sp ?).
After he went on a Pilgrimage to Mecca, he supposedly had a
revelation or deep experience that all men were potentially
brothers regardless of skin color....
