I have received around 10 replies, but have seen nothing in net.roots about it; for those like myself who missed earlier discussion of such books, I shall summarize briefly. [1] The list of names does indeed seem to be culled from 'phone books, and perhaps only from larger cities. [2] The family crests offered by similar services, if not this service, often have nothing to do with one's own family crest (if one should exist). [3] A trip to a good library would do one better, for less money. [4] Value: estimates ranged from $0.00 to $15.00; one respondent (no names) recommended that one might more productively use the money by sending it to him.
