The launch was to have been to an altitude of a mile, to prove the concept of water launching (we already know you can launch rockets from underwater). The rocket developed a short circuit while sitting in the upright position prior to launch. Heavy swells ripped the rocket's cradle and crane off the back of the transport boat.
