It may be grimy, but I've always loved the cavernous area under the stands with all those walkways. Going to Shea is always exciting, probably because it's where I saw my first baseball game. I never get that same feeling going to Candlestick or the Oakland Coliseum. Besides, you can actually go to a summer night game and not have to wear warm clothes, which is more than you can say about the ball parks out here. Shea, with its subway and LIRR stations, is much more accessible than, say, Candlestick, which is in the middle of nowhere and accessible only by car. And I've never found Shea to be dangerous; certainly Yankee Stadium and Comiskey Park in Chicago are in much more dangerous areas. Also, the food's better at Shea. The main thing that I find wrong with Shea is the low-flying planes. I must admit, though, that the nicest ball park I've ever been to is Fenway in Boston. Wayne Citrin (ucbvax!citrin)
