If you do, I certainly don`t classify him as a non-star. Anyway, you need look no farther than the friendly confines of Wrigley field to find the training grounds for many a superstar. Let`s just start with these names - Lou Brock, Bill North, Burt Hooten, Andre Thornton, budding star Carmelo Martinez, Larry Gura, Oscar Gamble. There were also many who started out great in Chicago, and then got traded, like Bruce Sutter, Bill Madlock (wins 2 batting titles, then asks for big bucks, gets traded to S.F. for Rick Monday, who gets paid MORE than what Madlock asked for), Bill Caudill. I know I could just keep on going. Manny Trillo. Bad trades have kinda been a tradition on the North side, though there have been good ones. Fergie Jenkins, Randy Hundley, Bill Buckner (though he was a star before we got him). Maybe I`ll go home & check out my trades book and make a list & see if there are other teams that have made more bad trades than the Cubbies. Tom O`Connor Hey, Cubs aren`t doin` too bad right now! 1/2 game out of first.
