But officially, he does not select the players invited to the try-outs. The nation is divided into four regions (I think the same regions as the NCAA tournament). In each region a coach is selected (by Bobby Knight ?) to invite the players of that region to the try-outs. Knight then selects 12 men from this group and they will play in the Olympics. Of course this does not mean that Knight has no say over who gets invited to the try-outs. What if the guy in the Mid East refused to invite Ewing (although that would be improbable as the Georgetown coach selects the players of that region)? H.
