I'm the one that mentioned Kraith... but I've never read it.  My knowledge
of it is based on a chapter in "Star Trek Lives" (Bantam Books; three authors
including S. Marshak).  I know that at one time it was available through
someone listed in the ST Welcommittee Directory, by mail-order only.  When
I get my new edition of the STW Directory, I'll post the address and price
(if it still is available), or perhaps Roger can help us out.
