Looking back at my friend's (actually, the hobbit's) copy of the Dr. Who
Program Guide (the two-volume set published by Target Books), it seems
that the Beatles had a cameo role in one of the Hartnell episodes, "The Chase".
I wonder if the writers will repeat that, with a current rock band (I
suggest The Police).
 
Do you think Sting would make a good Doctor #7? (Heaven forbid!  We just
got Doctor #6.)
