They are both RISC architecture machines reputed to be much faster than a VAX 11/780 with floating point accelerator and they run UNIX. They are also cheaper. Specifically, we would like to know about: 1) general experience 2) speed 3) reliability 4) support from the manufacturer. 5) does the fortran really work 6) any problems encountered in set-up or continuous operation 7) evaluation of periperals you have 8) number of users on your system and how responsive it is 9) how would you recommend a system be configured (both what to get and what not to get; what you wish you had/had not gotten) Any information along these lines you can give us would be greatly appreciated.
