Conversely, if men dressed in snowsuits with lots of zippers and buckles and all women carried weapons to help defend other women and the men stayed home most of the time, that would probably also reduce the incidence of rape. (I'll bet my bottom dollar that even in countries where a woman is defended on the street she is vulnerable to her uncles, brothers, father, etc.) So, if men were willing to pay such a price, rape could easily be reduced. In fact, if men were locked in cages in the basement it could probably be eliminated.
