Ms. Riddle's comment reminds me of my mother, who lives alone
in Paris, France.  She rarely goes out in the evening, mainly
for fear of the large, Arab immigrant population that is growing
in Paris right now.  She speaks impeccable French, has made many
friends there, and got this attitude from her native friends there.
It's a pity, for Paris is beautiful in the evenings....
