1.  I lost quite a few postings at month-end so I'm jumping into the middle
    of a few articles.

2.  I'm glad to see some indirect comment on my articles and if any body wanted
    a reply from me please post again or get me through bitnet.

3.  NOW....here goes!!!

     Kenn the Kempf usually infuriates me because of perceived attitude and
     content of his postings (nothing personal  I don't know him).  His
     philosophy seems one of SECULAR-HUMANISM which I railed against earlier.
     This seems to be the predominant philosophy of most netters.

How does one get this????   A virus perhaps????

Seriously one has to learn this philosophy from someone.  How about ones
teachers??  Do we accept their teaching authority???   When do we accept anyone
's teaching authority?? Even better do we accept any authority whatsoever??

It has been my observation that those who claim that they are capable of
making up their on mind on difficult matters are often at odds with a
standard philosophy or religious system and they use this argument to
seperate themselves from it.  The corollary criticism from them becomes
something to the effect that those adherants to the value system which they
abhor are mindless and without courage to make "intellectual decisions".

Since the emphasis of humanism is on SELF the above attitude is expected.
But how much of this intellectual arrogance????

Abortion had been considered EVIL up until the 60's in the westerm world.
But now as enlightened, free thinking individual intellectuals we can free
society from the past errors of those narrow-minded, doctrinal-bound
totalitarians and allow a new freedom.  We will discuss abortion in cold,
academic detachment and correct the errors of past leader and teachers. A new
order will be maintained giving freedom the parent to use multiple options.

NOT BAD...

And what do we have to show for all of years of eduaction which taught us to
think for "ourselves"????

We ignore a stage of our development (fetus).
We dispose of inconveniences.
We can't or won't admit to the humanity of the unborn.

WE CAN'T EVEN DECIDE ON WHAT MAKES A HUMAN BEING HUMAN!!!!!!!


Must we re-discover everything at every generation???


Do some of us reactionaries a favor..study the past at least a little.
Many of these problems have been solved...some of our teachers forgot to tell
us about the answers, or they just didn't like them.



Boy you can tell it's end-of-semester.  I usually only rant at my students like
this.



     Happy summer anyway, everbody!!!
