I borrowed a few CD's from a friend with a SONY CDP 101 , one was really beat up. Intentionally!! for error correction analysis. On the Sony the CD payed fine, on the SLP 8 it skipped and went so far as to not play one track at all!!! Sony's error correction must be better. NOTE: The SLP 8 has many more features such as starting a track at any time into the track eg. 2 minutes 20 seconds into the song. Also when indexing becomes availableon CD's , the SLP 8 is ready for it. This may also be useful if IBM starts putting software on CD's as mentioned previously on the net. LAST NOTE: I'm tickled with my new toy and wouldn't give it up for any turntable WayneZ...
