cv joint problem is a nightmare.  i went four months with thunderous
clunking waiting until a mechanic could "figure out which one was bad."

finally a vw dealer (roy rioux) told me "they were all loose" to the 
toon of 100 per part ($400) and 100 per-joint labor ($400).

i replaced all four in fitchburg for $260.
