Message-ID: <566@uofm-cv.UUCP> Date: Tue, 29-May-84 16:06:25 EDT Article-I.D.: uofm-cv.566 Posted: Tue May 29 16:06:25 1984 Date-Received: Fri, 1-Jun-84 06:04:18 EDT Lines: 26 Lately, it seems that the old Schwinn Le Tour III is no longer adequate. The Barber of Seville can no longer be heard, and I have decided to do something about it. I am stuck between upgrading the drive system and getting a new machine. As for upgrading, I'd like to keep a wide ratio, something like 39-52 up front, with 14-28 in the rear. (what I now have) What would you suggest? If you have specific models of cogs or derailleurs in mind, tell me why, don't just list a number. Including the expected price would help. Regarding a new bicycle, I'd like to keep it under $600, if at all possible. I've seen a TREK 700 for $587 and a TREK 600 for $395, and those are the prime contenders unless you can convince me otherwise. I don't race or tour with baggage, the most I expect to do is about 100 miles a day in good weather. This part of Michigan is quite flat, and I don't expect a move to the Rockies, and I like the gears listed above. At any rate, all advice is most welcome. Thanks. -jd CSNet : jd@umich-ciprnet Usenet: ...!ulysses!gamma!epsilon!mb2c!uofm-cv!jd Easy mail: ...!ihnp4!uofmcv!jd
