Result? Two days later we got a call from the bank saying that they had to have our social security numbers because the credit bureau they use is keyed on SSN, and that if we didn't want to give it to them we could go elsewhere for a mortgage. I am convinced that what they did is illegal, but I don't see anything that I can possibly do about it.
