Wearing a helmet is not going to guarantee you will feel any better after a crash. As a survivor of scores of bicycle and motorcycle crashes, I can say that my helmet got used in perhaps three of my crashes, and then only superficially. Learn to crash, you would be amazed at how fast the human mind reacts. During accidents I feel like I'm in slow motion and have plenty of time to set up my fall. Don't get me wrong I own 6 motorcycle helmets: 2 full face, 2 open face, one shorty and one leather (for helmet optional states). I have never worn a helmet on a bicycle, and doubt I ever will. Just because one so called expert rider ends up a veg because he hits a pothole out in the country is no reason for me to get a helmet. PLEASE KEEP YOUR HORROR STORIES TO YOURSELF. seismo!tiberio
