I had a 1000 square foot NEW apartment in the Cincinnati area in 1982. I paid 300/mo. for it, and had one month rent free!! There wasn't any rent control either! Previously, I had a 800 square foot 2 bdrm for $245/mo! Additionally, the 300/mo apartment overlooked a pond, was on the third floor, had WALLPAPER and decent appliances (like a self-cleaning oven)..... Rent control buys nothing but a housing subsidy.
