You could place a serial/parallel at the top of the fifo and a parallel/serial
converter at the bottom of the fifo to get the serial I/O with your fifos.
In addition, I believe Monolithic Memories makes a 64 by 4 with serial I/O, and
Mostek or Zilog is coming out with a 128/132 bit fifo with serial I/O.
