What it means is that you roll a certain number of dice to see how many hit points are taken away from you. If a monster does 2d4 of damage, this tranlates into 2 four sided dice or 2-8 hit points. 1d8 is one 8 sided dice or 1-8 hit points. Occasionally you will see something like 2d4/2d4. This means that the monster is given two chances to hit you, each chance worth 2-8 points. If luck is for you he misses both times. If luck is against you he gets 16 points. The range would be 2-16. This can be stacked to as many attacks as the controller of the game thinks he can get away with. -- From the closet of anxieties of: Chuq Von Rospach {amd70,fortune,hplabs,ihnp4}!nsc!chuqui (408) 733-2600 x242 Half asleep I hear a voice; is it only in my mind?
