	Just now somebody was telling about a game he won in 5.3, and
	referred to killing two griffins and then he "dropped the amulet". 
	How's that again?  I don't know what he's talking about.  Can
	someone enlighten me?

Some monsters carry treasure, which they drop when they die. In this case,
a griffen was carrying the Amulet of Yendor.
