That destroyer of games, especailly just after you pick up a two handed sword, and have a shimmering golden plate armor, can be foiled by doing a stty command before playing rogue. Movements ( on 5.3 ) are ^H, ^J, etc. One of these is ^Y ( for up left ). This is also the default dsusp (delayed suspend) character in stty, in the c shell. What is happening is the ^Y gets through to the shell, which then does the nasty things to you. To fix, write a shell script that does a stty dsusp u susp u before invoking /usr/games/rogue. We have Data General terminals also, which use ^M as part of the cursor movement string.
