Two filters for encoding 8-bit binary into printable ASCII (and the reverse)
have been posted to net.sources.  "tarmail" and "untarmail" scripts use these
filters and "tar" to send arbitrary files and directory structures via mail.
In our situation at least, this has proven more convienent than using uucp
directly.
