I'm helping a friend adapt his TRS Model 100 barcode reader to handle alternatives to the UPC Variant A that it comes programmed to read. We've gotten to the point where we can read the individual digits whether they're coded normally or in zero-suppression mode (which turns out to be the reverse of normal), and we know the polynomial which generates the check values for the lookup table. What we don't know--and can't figure out--is WHERE TO PUT (BACK) THE (SUPPRESSED) ZEROS. Any help would be much appreciated!
