     I am new to the hobby, and am wondering if there is an organized way
of relaying messages on the 2 meter band.  I will be driving a van full of
scouts to New Mexico, and am curious whether I could use a 2 meter handheld
transceiver as back-up communications to allow parents in the Berkeley, Ca.
area to get hold of us in an emergency. Is there a number that the parents
could call to get the name of an operator willing and close enough
