IRCAM does research in music and acoustics and supporting work in computer science for those disciplines. people interested in local area networking, graphics, real-time control, signal processing, and system and language issues are especially sought. hardware includes a Vax, a bunch of 68000s and 11s and special purpose hardware for synthesis and signal processing. you ought to be fluent in French within 3-6 months. some relocation expenses paid. you should be prepared to spend more than a year in paris (in order to explore all the good restaurants... and to get some work done) pay ranges from 16000-22000 FF/month according to experience and education (French tax rates are 25-30%, no US tax on this income according to our understanding of the tax laws).
