Berkeley Lines: 22 To people who think that telling ethnic jokes encourages discrimination, etc against those people: do you really believe that the reason the Nazis killed 6 million Jews was that somebody was telling Jewish jokes? That the reason blacks were slaves before 1860 was that some Europeans 200 years earlier told some black jokes? This is absurd, and I agree with whoever it was who said that all this shows is that people who protest against ethnic jokes are precicely the sort of people who hear an ethnic joke, and then go out and see some member of that ethnic group and think of the joke. These people feel guilty because they are unable to disassociate a little humor from reality, and flame at the people who make the humor. Those of us who don't mind a bit of ethnic humor read an ethnic joke, chuckly perhaps, and then forget it, never once imagining that it might apply to people of that group who we actually know. Those of you who are offended by these jokes should think hard about why you are so offended before you flame at people who, unlike yourselves, are able to keep a bit of humor in perspective. Wayne
