The LA Times printed a bunch of ethnic jokes once quite a while
ago.  The used the term "nerd" instead of the actual ethnic group
being singled out.

My general question is, if you can determine who is being ribbed
from the context, is that still OK?

The one example I remember was

	Why don't nerds have bank accounts?

	You can't sign checks with spray paint.
