I might point out that not only did BLKTRAN present the stereotype of
blacks as larcenous, but as lazy, illiterate, stupid, and amoral.  In
fact, it's hard to find a black stereotype that wasn't presented.

Perhaps my experience is atypical, but I've known enough `nice' people
who actually believe these stereotypes to say that these beliefs just
aren't that uncommon.  And this is here in Southern California, not
the South-Eastern US.
