Thanks to all those who sent me information or references for Batch SMTP.

It is indeed a batch style use of SMTP to deliver a bunch of messages in
one direction and sometime later receive a bunch of responses.

It was created and evolved by Mike O'Dell, Greg Minshall, and Alan Crosswell.

It is used in some parts of BITNET, particularly at Berkeley.

A six page description of it was prepared by Alan Crosswell.
