The MOD I's ASCII was not quite ASCII, so if a file was printed to a lineprinter, the up arrow would translate to a "[". The "[" then means Raised to the Power which on most systems is "^" or "**". The TRS-80 MOD III did not have this problem, was REAL ASCII, but could not display arrows without mucking about. Cheers, Gern -------
