Don't ever spray anything on the lead screw of a Shugart SA800. It WILL pick up dust and start to bind. The proper way of fixing the noise is to adjust the lead screw tension, and altough this means removing the lead screw, it is not difficult. You just have to re-align the drive when your done. Be careful not to loosen the stepper motor mounting plate or you'll upset the head penetration. As for lubricating the lead screw, first clean it with alcohol, and then if you must spray a clean cloth with silicon spray and WIPE it on the screw. Leave a film so thin you're not even sure it's there, otherwise it will collect dust and bind up. You can also do this to the guide rails for the head on the Tandon 5 1/4. The rails are what cause the squeek. mikey
