Model 100 RAM Expansion ? Message-ID: <1637@tekig1.UUCP> Date: Wed, 9-May-84 13:05:35 EDT Article-I.D.: tekig1.1637 Posted: Wed May 9 13:05:35 1984 Date-Received: Sun, 20-May-84 00:06:37 EDT Organization: Tektronix, Beaverton OR Lines: 29 There was some discussion in this newsgroup fairly recently concerning RAM expansion on the TRS-80 Model 100 portable computer. I have recently become the owner of one of these, regretably, with the 8K RAM. I would like to expand the RAM to 32K. I have available some Hitachi HM6264P-12 8Kx8 CMOS Static Rams, which I have been told should be compatible with the machine, as far as speed/power consumption goes. However, RS used cute little hybrid packages which have 4 2kx8 leadless carriers mounted on them, and the pin spacing of the hybrid is different than the spacing of the 28 pin RAMS I have. The pin count is 28 on the Hyrbid, which leads me to believe that there is a chance the my scheme MIGHT work. My questions are: 1. Will the above mentioned RAMs work? 2. Are the pinouts of the RAMS the same as the pinout of the hybrid. A) If not: Can someone fill me in on what kind of jumpering will be required to make the RAM compatible? Any help that anyone can offer concerning this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rick Bensene ..tektronix!tekig1!rickb
