The only thing it was missing was the narration going on inside Oliver Barrett's head, and that didn't hurt it too much. Good book, and good movie. I saw "Sharky's Machine", and then read the book, and overall, they did a pretty good job of making a movie out of it. Burt Reynold's did a good job of directing, but there were two or three scenes that really flopped. Overall though, he did pretty well (his directorial debut, no?).
