I believe that Bakshi sold the rights to the end of the story to try to recoup some cash after his big loss on LotR -- part I. I really wish Disney had done LotR -- I think they would at least have looked in the back of the book to see how the names were supposed to be pronounced! -No cute signoff, either, -Glenn
