Haydn: The "Lark" quintet provides a good introduction to Haydn and this period's chamber music Bach: The "Notebook of Anna Magdelena Bach" on Nonesuch (that I recommended in my earlier article) has several Bach chamber works on it. As one gets more familiar with chamber music, they'll see more depth in these works and then may wish to move one to more complex ones, like the Beethoven string quartets. If one is interested in Baroque chamber music, Vivaldi's work is a good place to start - Nonesuch has several new digital releases of Vivaldi works for smaller ensembles.
