Is any single male out there interested in a short-term marriage of convenience, with no strings attached ? There is a young woman from Poland who wishes to stay in the U.S. on a permanent basis. Her aunt and mother have written, advising her not to return home for any reason. The woman would apply for political asylum, but she fears for the safety of her brother, who has been drafted into the Polish army. The soviets take a dim view of "defectors" and their families, but seem not to mind marriage to a U.S. citizen so much. Evidently, the anti-Soviet "propaganda" we get over here is true, but falls short of the mark. In short, marriage to a U.S. citizen, followed by a rapid divorce, would allow her to finish her graduate degree, stay here permanently, and avoid returning to the horrors of occupied Poland.
