Message-ID: <613@ut-ngp.UUCP> Date: Wed, 16-May-84 18:19:08 EDT Article-I.D.: ut-ngp.613 Posted: Wed May 16 18:19:08 1984 Date-Received: Thu, 17-May-84 04:32:42 EDT References: <313@drutx.UUCP> Organization: Comp. Center, Univ. of Texas at Austin Lines: 29 I like the idea, post a question, receive mailed replies, post the result. PROBLEMS: 1) double entries 2) dishonest vote count 3) too many questions generating too much mail SOLUTIONS: 1) a moderated group 2) questions to the group moderator to be published in ONE daily/weekly/other posting. ONE mail-response with all the answers to all the questions to an address indicated in the posting (not the author of the question) Anyone with a question must first tally votes. Several tallies allow result verification. Standard answer format allows counting by a simple program. COMMENTS: It may be interesting to have a brief discussion before voting on a question, but that would be gravy. As there are many ongoing discussions in different groups already, a discussion on net.polls would not be neccessary. I'd like a local group also, "polls" to discuss local questions, company, university or city politics or problems. HEY - DEMOCRACY IN ACTION !!!
