  Although I agree with Orlando in principle, I would like to point out that
there is one big problem with his (and jj's) proposal: the lines for old
groups will still be in each user's .newsrc file. This will slow readnews
down (and possibly overflow some buffers) unless something is added to cause 
readnews to automatically delete "tiredgroups" lines from a user's .newsrc
file when an update is done. How about it, news gurus? How difficult would
that be to implement?
