Hummingbirds need a lot of energy. To make the food, use 3 cups of sugar for every two cups a water. Boil the mixture to dissolve the sugar and add a little red dye (after a while, the dye will not be needed). My mother, up until three years ago, used to feed the hummingbirds, year round, at her house. During the summer months, we had as many as thirty hummingbirds and about four different varieties. Also, if you ever stop feeding the hummingbirds, DO NOT do it in winter when there is not enough other food around. You will end up killing what hummingbirds that are depending on your supply of food. -- Brad Brahms usenet: {decvax, ucbvax}!trwrb!trwspp!brahms arpa: Brahms@USC-ECLC
